Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated® 67th South Atlantic Regional Conference, (SARC) originally scheduled for April 7 – 12 in Charleston, South Carolina will now be held virtually October 2-3, 2020.

This year’s conference theme is “Southern Pearls Exemplifying Excellence Through Sisterhood and Service: A Virtual Connection” More than 3,000 members from Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina are expected to participate in the first-ever virtual experience in the history of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority.

During the SARC members will receive professional development training and engage in workshops focused on Alpha Kappa Alpha’s five key program initiatives: HBCU for Life: A Call to Action, Women’s Healthcare and Wellness, Building Economic Legacy, The Arts, and Global Impact. Special recognition also will be given to members of the sorority who have served for twenty-five years, fifty years, sixty-five years, and seventy-five years.

Throughout the two-day online event, attendees will have the ability to interact with presenters, exhibitors and other guests through live chat and Q&A sessions. A Public Meeting on Friday, October 2, 2020 will feature several keynote speakers including Bakari Sellers, political commentator with CNN and former South Carolina legislator. Other highlights will include presentations of the sorority’s esteemed community awards given to local leaders, individuals and organizations that have made significant contributions to the community.

Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated is the oldest Greek-letter organization established in America by black women and was founded on January 15, 1908, at Howard University. Led by International President and Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Glenda Glover, the organization consists of 300,000 college-trained women who give of themselves to support community service projects and scholarship programs. The sorority has a membership of over 300,000 women with more than 1,000 chapters in the United States and internationally in the Caribbean, Canada, Germany, Japan, Korea, and Africa.

The South Atlantic Region is the largest of the sorority’s ten regions. Under the leadership of Regional Director, Carolyn G. Randolph of Columbus, Georgia, the South Atlantic Region has more than 18,700 members and is comprised of 175 graduate and undergraduate chapters. Hostess chapters for the 67th SARC consist of seventeen graduate chapters and twelve undergraduate chapters from Orangeburg, SC; Beaufort, SC; North Charleston, SC; Charleston, SC; Hinesville, GA; Vidalia, GA; Savannah, GA; Swainsboro, GA; Augusta, GA; Aiken, SC; Denmark, SC; Statesboro, GA; Georgetown, SC; Walterboro, SC; Evans, GA; Corner, SC and Summerville, SC.
