Golf Fundraiser

The 14th Annual Claflin University Golf Classic will be held on Thursday, Nov. 14, at the Orangeburg Country Club. The tournament is a fundraiser to support scholarships for Friends of Claflin University Students (FOCUS 100) and the Orange and Maroon Athletic Support Association (OMASA). Registration on the day of the event begins at 8 a.m. and the tournament begins with a 9 a.m. shotgun start. The cost is $100 for individual players and $400 for a team of four players. Participants will also receive tickets to the awards luncheon, which will be held after the tournament.

Birdie ($1,500); Par ($1,000); Hole ($600); and Tee ($250) sponsorships are available for businesses or individuals and include signage on the golf course.

Established in 2004 by the Claflin University Board of Visitors, the FOCUS100 Scholarship Fund has been a major source of support toward helping students fulfill their dreams of graduating from Claflin University.

The scholarships offer supplemental support for students who experience an unexpected financial crisis, such as a family or health related emergency that may force them to withdraw from school without earning a degree. FOCUS100 Scholarships have contributed to the marked increase in the retention rate for first-year students during the past decade.

OMASA is a membership organization that provides financial assistance to more than 140 student athletes who represent Claflin in 11 intercollegiate sports and cheerleading. OMASA provides supplemental funding to support scholarships and operational needs of the program. Claflin competes at the NCAA Division II level in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA).
