Richland One’s annual college fair for high school juniors, seniors and their parents goes virtual this year with live and recorded sessions with representatives from colleges and universities around the world. District students and parents are encouraged to register now for the free Virtual College Exploration program, which will be offered September 14 – October 9.

The four-week program, sponsored by the Carolinas Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers (CACRAO), gives students the opportunity to choose from 280 presentations and information sessions and learn about 201 colleges and universities from 26 states, Washington, D.C. and four foreign countries.

Trina Offing, coordinator of Richland One’s School Counseling Services, sees many advantages to virtual presentations.

“Students will have the opportunity to ask questions of college admission counselors, in a safe, flexible, online environment. However, if students are unable to attend live, we still encourage them to register for the sessions they are interested in because recordings will be available later on the CACRAO website. They can view the recordings at a time that’s best for them.”

To register for sessions, high school students and their parents should go to CACRAO website https://www.cacrao.org/. Students should register for each session they wish to attend. After they register, they will receive a confirmation email with their unique link to join the Zoom webinar.

Richland One parents needing additional information should contact their child’s high school counseling department or the district’s School Counseling Services Office at (803) 231-6940.
