A criminal law attorney who’s dedicated to helping others, Katherine Myers has joined Burnette Shutt & McDaniel.

Myers is a former prosecutor who worked in the First Circuit Court Solicitor’s Office. That experience gave her insight into how criminal cases are prepared, skills that are an advantage to her clients today. She represents clients at all phases of criminal cases, from charges to trials to appeals if necessary. She continues to work with them if later appearances before probation or parole boards are necessary.

“We are impressed with Katherine’s dedication to her clients and with her commitment to seeing justice served for everyone,” Burnette Shutt & McDaniel co-founder Malissa Burnette said. “She’s a great addition to our team who shares our determination to move law forward.”

She also worked as a whistleblower investigator in the state Occupational Safety and Health Administration division, where she protected workers who were retaliated against after reporting wrongdoing.

Myers served as a clerk for South Carolina Supreme Court Chief Justice Donald Beatty after she graduated from the University of South Carolina School of Law. She earned a bachelor’s in political science at Furman University. She’s a native of Columbia who’s passionate about giving back to her hometown.
